Irene Elizabeth Barry 1925-2008 BENNINGTON Irene Elizabeth Barry, 82, widow of John H. Barry, a resident of Washington Ave., died Saturday March 22, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.Born in Everett, Mass. Aug. 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Nora Lyons Gallagher. Irene received her education in the Everett schools and was a 1943 graduate of Everett High School. Mr & Mrs. Barry were married May 17, 1947 in Everett. Mr. Barry died June 19, 2005. In earlier years Irene had been employed as an operator by New England Telephone Company. As her family grew she spent most of her time raising her children. As her children were grown Irene went back to work at Business World in Bennington. Irene's home and family were her main interest. She, along with her husband, were very active with the Boy Scout organization for many years. Irene was also a member of the Haystack Mountain Auxiliary Ski Patrol and a member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. She leaves two sons and their wives, Dennis and Darlene Barry of Bennington and Chris Barry and Arla Foster of Bennington; a daughter, Tricia Beecroft and her husband Joel of Schaghticoke, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Yolanda Barry of Shaftsbury; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Sister Bernadette Gallagher of the Sisters of Saint Josephs in Framingham, Mass. She was pre-deceased by a son Kevin Barry, three grandchildren, two brothers, Edward and Jack Gallagher and a sister, Mary Virginia Gallagher. FUNERAL HOME: The Mass of Resurrection will be held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church on Saturday, April 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
