1933 - 2015 BENNINGTON Irene Giroux Jones, 81, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Kingston, NY on December 25, 1933, daughter of the late Robert N. and Philomene (Chenaille) LaBarge. Irene married Edward J. Giroux at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on January 24, 1953. Ed died November 26, 1977. She later married Ferd Jones on April 20, 1984. In earlier years Irene was a member of both St. Anne's Society and the French Club. Her favorite pastime was time spent with her many children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. One of her greatest passions was writing letters to loved ones. She also enjoyed playing the piano and playing cards, dominoes and bingo. Irene leaves behind her husband, Ferd Jones; her seven loving children, Valerie (Stephen) Zwiercan, Keith (Debbie) Giroux, Wayne Giroux, Darlene (Greg) Lockwood, Marcella Giroux, Kimberly (Michael) Harrington and Melinda (Brian) Harrington; her nineteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; five siblings, Helen Bisson, Marceline Piekos, Pauline Frost, Philomene Pratt and Mary Rose Bratcher; step-children, Kenny, Keith, Kathy, Kelly, Adam and Gwen along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and her many friends. Irene was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Zwiercan, a great-grandson, Trenton Hayes, a sister, Charmaine DeCoigne and two brothers, Robert and Edward LaBarge. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside committal services will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 1p.m. at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Irene Giroux Jones' memory may be made to the Greater Bennington Interfaith Community Services Fuel and Food Fund through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
