Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER VILLAGE -- Irvine Victor Glover passed away on Aug. 21, 2006. He was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Morristown, N.J., the son of Matthew and Agnes (Irvine) Glover. He received his schooling in Northport, N.Y., and graduated from Northport High School.

Mr. Glover served in the Air Force during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific area. He worked for 24 years with the Southern New England Telephone Co. and, after moving to Vermont in 1972, owned and operated the Maple Manor Motel in Middlebury with his wife. In 1982, he and his wife sold the motel and retired to their home in Manchester.

Mr. Glover is survived by his wife of 36 years, Muriel (Lydiksen) Glover; a brother, Robert Glover, of Afton, N.Y.; three sons, Philip, of Bridgeport, Conn., Timothy, of Roseville, Ohio, and James, of Mount Perry, Ohio; and a daughter, Diane Giervitz, of Bridport. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Susan Abalan, of Orange, Conn., Gary Fowks, of St. Cloud, Fla., Wayne Fowks, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Gregory Fowks, of Framingham, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Thomas Glover, a stepdaughter, Sharon Miller, and his first wife, Gloria Sanders, predeceased him.

A private family graveside service will be held at Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester. Friends may call at the Brewster Funeral Home, 34 Park Place, Manchester, on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.
