Isabel Palmer Roscoe Hoag

BENNINGTON Isabel Palmer Roscoe Hoag died peacefully with her family around her on February 5, while visiting her son in Wyoming. She enjoyed a full life in North Bennington for 38 years. Her loving husband, Ollie, died in 1992.

Born in New York City to Mary and Alva Palmer, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she met her first husband, Robert Roscoe. After his death in 1956, she moved to Hamden, Conn., where she worked, got her Masters degree, and raised her three children.

Isabel had a love for nature, especially water. She loved to sail, canoe, kayak, camp and hike. Isabel had a special ability to see the best in everyone she knew, and welcomed many friends, young and old, into her heart.

She was a member of the Unitarian Church, Beyond War, League of Women Voters, and a volunteer at the Bennington Elementary School.

She leaves her brothers, James and Charles Edwin Palmer; her children, Allison, James, and Mary Roscoe; her grandchildren, Will and Wyatt Roscoe, Luke and Sady Tobin; and her great-grandson, Isaac Roscoe. She had many wonderful friends throughout her life that she was always grateful for.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A simple celebration of her life will take place in the spring at the convenience of her family.
