Isabella Perrotta Erickson

1919 - 2015 BENNINGTON Isabella Perrotta Erickson, 96 years old, passed away on June 10, 2015. She was born on January 10, 1919 to Antonietta Cassanetti and Nicholas Perrotta in Bennington, VT. She married Virgil Erickson in 1962 in Bennington. He predeceased her on June 11, 1981. Their entire married life was spent in Springfield, VT where she taught vocal music in the Springfield Public Schools for 37 years at both the elementary and high school levels. Prior to her marriage, she began her career in Essex Junction, VT and New York City Schools where she taught vocal music for six years. Isabella was an avid tennis player her entire life, still playing into her 80's. She continued to enjoy watching tournaments on television until recently. Isabella attended St. Francis de Sales School in Bennington and graduated in 1940 from Bennington College. Later she recieved her Masters degree in Music from Columbia University. Her community activities included staff pianist for the VT Symphony Orchestra in the 40's, a board member of the VT Music Education Association, directed Twin States Orchestra in the 40's, pianist/organist at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield for over 25 years, pianist for the Community Chorus and Community Players in Springfield, pianist for the Springfield Senior Songsters, member of the Windsor Trio with Lois White and Lydia Paxson and a regular performer at the Springfield Adult Day with Elaine Rogers, Jackie Goodrich and Betty Forrest. She is survived by her nephews, Max (Pat) Perrotta, Chris Perrotta and Nick (Liz) Charest of Bennington. She is also survived by her niece, Joan Perrotta of Bennington and Gloria Walker (Philip) of Winter Garden, FL. Also she is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She loved them all very much. She also leaves her loyal friend and caregiver, Elizabeth Lausier of Springfield. SERVICES: Committal services will take place on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Isabella's memory may be made to the Springfield High School Music Department through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
