Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A service of thanksgiving for the life of J. Duncan Campbell was celebrated on Thursday morning, Dec. 11, 2003 at the Second Congregational Church.

The service was shared by church pastor, the Rev. Mary Lee-Clark, and Mr. Campbell’s sister, the Rev. Virginia Thomas, deacon of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Enosburg Falls. Organist Cindy Riddle accompanied the congregation in singing “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” and “Lead, Kindly Light.” Grandson Owen Rachampbell sang “Amazing Grace” accompanied by pianist Cindy Riddle.

Readings of Scripture were offered by a son Alan Campbell, grandson Gregory Campbell and granddaughter Cricket Campbell Kadosh, the homily was given by the Rev. Thomas, words of remembrance were shared by a son Stuart Campbell and a longtime close friend Robert Matteson. Serving as ushers were grandsons Mason Rachampbell, Abbott Rachampbell and Owen Rachampbell.

Attending the services and calling hours at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home were members of the Bennington Rotary Club, Green Mountain Chapter of the American Red Cross, area clergy, and past and present members of the town of Bennington administration.

A reception for family and friends was held at the Campbell family home.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Campbell family lot in the Johnstown (N.Y.) Cemetery.

Mr. Campbell, 89, a resident of Rice Lane died Nov. 22, 2003 at the Vermont Veterans Home

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
