1955 - 2016 SHAFTSBURY Jacqueline A. "Jackie" Baranowski, 60, wife of Jerry Baranowski, a resident of Shaftsbury, died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, NY, August 6, 1955, she was the daughter of Harry J and Margaret (Wade) Rohrs. Jackie received her education in the North Babylon, NY schools. Jackie and Jerry were married in Bennington on November 6, 1987. In earlier years, Jackie was employed as a para-educator in the Special Education program for the Bennington School District. Jackie was very active in several local organizations including Special Olympics where she served as a coordinator; serving as a foster care parent for several young people; and was the first female umpire in the Bennington Little League. In addition, she served as a host for the Fresh Air Fund where she hosted young persons including Skylah Mason of Brooklyn, NY with whom she developed a life-long relationship. Jackie enjoyed doing all type of crafts and caring for her best friends, her dogs, Benny and Carlee. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Baranowski of Shaftsbury; her parents, Harry and Margaret Rohrs of Bennington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Kristen Gordon of Manchester, CT and Chad and Renee Gordon of Bennington; five grandchildren, Carson, Caleigh, Blake, Brooke and Brynn; two sisters, Audrey (Everest) Doucette of New Milford, CT and Ellen Conklin of Bennington; an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jackie was predeceased by a grandson, Cole Gordon. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 3p.m. Relatives and close family friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 1p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place with the family in White Chapel Cemetery. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Jacqueline Baranowski's memory, they may be made to the Cardio-Rehabilitation Unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
