WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- James A. “Jim” Brown, 75, of Victorian Drive, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 in Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.

Born and educated in Bennington, Vt., Jim was a graduate of Bennington High School.

A resident of Enfield, Conn. for 30 years, Jim retired in 1989 from United Technologies Corp., SWEF division, after 33 years of employment. Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church, West Springfield, and a church deacon there for several years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and avid golfer who participated in several area golf leagues.

Jim leaves his wife of 53 years, the former Beatrice Jensen; a daughter, Penny Vazquez of West Springfield; and a sister, Laura Adler of Bennington. He is survived by four grandchildren, Max Vazquez of Vernon, Conn., Maria Woronecki of Enfield, Sandra Ames of Oxford, Maine and Sarah Vazquez of West Springfield, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with burial in Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours. Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
