Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Memorial services were held for James, D’Arcy Whalen on Friday afternoon, May 4, at the All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington with the Reverend Michael DeMasi, Chaplain, officiating.

Musical selections included the hymns: Ave Maria, Amazing Grace, Here I Am Lord and I Will Always Love You, by Ms. Whitney Houston.

The soloist for the services was Ms. Monica Murray and the organ was played by Mrs. Louise Gauthier.

The Eulogy was offered by Mr. Whalen’s brother, John Whalen and Tributes were offered by his son, Mr. Dan Whalen.

Pallbearers for the services were his sons; Shaun Whale, Dan Whalen, step-sons; Jeff Waldrop, Paul Waldrop, and son-in-law Matt Cook.

Military honors were offered following the chapel services. The flag was presented by Mr. Thomas Meehan, Commander of the VFW Post 1332 of Bennington, and taps were played by Mr. Maurice Rancourt.

A Time of Fellowship followed the services at the VFW Post on North Street in Bennington.

Interment will take place privately by the family.

James D’Arcy Whalen, age 79, a resident of Grandview St. Bennington, VT died on Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington following a brief illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
