Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for James E. Martin were held on Monday morning, Aug. 9, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington with the Rev. Michael DeMasi and the Rev. Edward Howard, pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, officiating. Selected hymns for the services included: “The Prayer of St. Francis” and “Just A Closer Walk with Thee.”

Remembrances and tributes were offered by Mr. Martin’s grandson, Benjamin Barton, and Mr. Martin’s nephew, David Simon. Taps were played in recognition of Mr. Martin’s military services to his country, and the flag was presented to Mrs. Lorraine Martin by Ralph Brown of the American Legion Post 13 of Bennington. A time of fellowship and refreshment followed the services at the family home. Following cremation, Mr. Martin’s urn was interred in Southview Cemetery in the family lot in North Adams, Mass. Committal prayers were offered by the Rev. DeMasi.

Mr. James E. Martin, 80, a resident of Matteson Road in North Bennington, died at his residence following a long illness. Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
