Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- James Elmer Webber, 53, a resident of Searsburg and currently of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, died on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2004, following a long illness.

He was born April 3, 1950 in Hartford, Conn. He was the son of the late Roy E. Webber Sr. and Lorraine M. (Emrick) Webber, of Readsboro, who survives. He also leaves one brother, Roy E. Webber Jr. of Searsburg; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gail S. and John Muncey of Lincoln, Del., and Gloria E. and John Eudy of Wallingford, Conn. He also has several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by one brother, William George Emrick. Mr. Webber served with the Marine Corp. from August 1968 until September 1974, and did serve in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a lance corporal.

He received his education in East Hampton, Conn. and graduated from Wilmington High School. He had been employed as a bus driver for the Moover transportation service in the Deerfield Valley. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1332 of Bennington.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday morning, Jan. 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home, 325 North St. in Bennington with the Rev. John Brigham officiating. There are no calling hours scheduled and interment will take place privately in Connecticut. Memorials in his honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Vermont Affiliate, in care of the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
