Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- James Edward Baker, 50, a resident of Pownal, died on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 at the Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, following a long illness.

He was born in Great Lakes, Ill., and was the son of Reginald Baker of Pownal and Victoria (Chenaille) Baker of North Bennington. James graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1973.

He was employed for several years as a boiler room attendant and worked in the maintenance department at Williams College.

His interests included hunting, fishing, rock climbing and exploring caves. He loved the outdoors.

Survivors besides his parents include his stepmother, Jackie Baker of Pownal; his two daughters, Valerie Brown and Nicole Pratt, both of Portland, Maine; his sisters, Marie Pudvar of Pownal, Elaine Capriola of Bennington, Patricia Crandall of North Bennington, Lynn Magisano of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Lori Mayer of Hoosick Falls, and Pamela Upright of North Bennington; two brothers, Reginald “Rick” Baker Jr. of Pownal and Louis Baker of Lanesboro, Mass. James leaves three grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
