James Edward "Jay" Skelly 1957 - 2008 BENNINGTON James Edward "Jay" Skelly, 51, of Gage Street died Thursday evening, Oct. 20, 2008, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Milford, Conn., on March 1, 1957, son of Carolyn Darkee Wyman and the late Edward J. Skelly, he received his education in Derby, Conn., schools, where he played on the high school basketball and golf teams. Jay had also resided in Louisiana, and in Arlington and Pownal, Vt. He had lived in Bennington for four years. Mr. Skelly had been employed as an operations manager for Green Mountain Express Bus Services. Jay had been a Cub Scout, a Boy Scout, and had volunteered at the Boy Scout Camps. He had volunteered twice to go to Louisiana to assist in the relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina. He enjoyed hunting, and was a very good cook. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Bennington. He leaves his "Significant Other," Inez Grover with whom he lived; his son, Shawn Skelly of Winooski; his mother and step-father, Carolyn and Maurice Wyman of Derby, Conn.; three step-children, James Woodcock of North Carolina, Jeffrey Woodcock of Bennington, and Marjorie Mason of Pawlet; two brothers, Jeffrey Skelly and his wife, JoAnn of Derby, and Joseph Skelly of Queensbury, N.Y.; his sister, Jean Bourne of Shaftsbury, three step-grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St., with the Rev. Louis Guariniello, officiating. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to-5 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St, in Bennington, VT 05201.
