NORTH POWNAL -- James A. Hurley, 60, of North Pownal, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington. He was born on Aug. 19, 1946, in Bennington, the son of Clarence and Laura (Woodard) Hurley. He lived in North Pownal for most of his life.

James was a machine operator with General Cable for 24 years. Prior to that he worked at the Pownal tannery for a few years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also enjoyed chopping wood. He loved racecars and, along with his brother, owned a car that raced at Lebanon Valley.

He is survived by four brothers, Clarence Hurley Jr. and his wife Sally of W. Hebron, N.Y., Hank Hurley of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Robert Hurley of Center Cambridge, N.Y., and Ralph Hurley of North Pownal; a sister and brother-in-law Edna and Norman Bentley of North Pownal, and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Wallace Hurley predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home 213 West Main St. Bennington. Gaylord Campbell will officiate. There are no calling hours.
