James R. Wescott 1930 - 2008 BENNINGTON James "Jim" Richard Wescott, 77, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died April 22, 2008 in Honolulu. He was a former resident of Bennington. Born in Lynn, Mass., on Dec. 13, 1930, son of Ruth Irvine McCarthy and James Lloyd Wescott, he graduated from Lynn English High School. He also graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University in 1988. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served served as a first lieutenant in the antiaircraft and guided missiles division from 1952 to 1956. Mr. Wescott was a retired engineer with the Naval & Turbine division of General Electric in Lynn. He was a proud member of the 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Mount Carmel Lodge, Mass.; Aleppo Shriners of North America, Wilmington, Mass., and BPOE Elks Lodge 616 of Honolulu and BPOE Elks Lodge 567 of Bennington. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and ukulele player. He leaves his wife, Kathleen Wescott;his sons, Rick Coleman and his wife, Rene, of Kula Maui, and Brian Coleman and his wife, nancy, of Swanzey, N.H.; his daughters, Marilyn Bureau of Boynton Beach, Fla., Lora Green of Makaha, Hawaii, and Stacey Eckert and her husband, Mark, of Dallas, Texas; his aunt, Shirley DeRouin and her husband, Lenny, of Lynn; a sister, Pat Hyde of The Villages, Fla.; brothers, Leonard "Lee" Wescott and his wife, Carole, of Rowley, Mass., and Robert McCarthy and his wife, Cathy, of Ipswich, Mass.; his godson, Travis DeForge, and his adoped son, Joseph DeForge of Bennington; seven grandchildren, Heather Coleman, Eva Coleman, Lori Coleman, Rick Coleman, Matthew Coleman, Ashley Eckert and Jessie Eckert, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, Keith Alan Bureau of Florida and by a nephew, Brent Marsh. FUNERAL NOTICE: A private service will be held by his family at a later date.
