James Towart 1922 - 2008 LANESBOROUGH James Robertson Towart, 86, of 25 Bridge Street, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at home. Born in Bennington, Vt., on March 29, 1922, son of the Rev. William G. and Mabel Starkey Towart, he was a graduate of Bennington High School. A World War II veteran, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army from Jan. 1946 to Aug. 1947. After 45 years of service as a draftsman for the General Electric Company, Mr. Towart retired in 1984. He was a member of the Berkshire County League of Sportsmen, the Central Berkshire Bowmen and the Lanesborough Lions Club. James enjoyed gardening and traveling especially to see his family. Mr. Towart married his wife, the former Helen Irene Piskorski on Oct. 14, 1945, she died on July 13, 1998. His leaves two sons, Geoffrey S. Towart of Pepperell and Douglas J. Towart of Peru; a daughter, Deborah J. Towart of Cove, Scotland and three grandchildren, Lachlan Towart of London, England, Gavin Towart of Melbourne, Australia and Robert John Alexander of Silverdale, Wash. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for James Robertson Towart, who died Saturday, May 10, 2008 will be private with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lanesborough Fire Department in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201
