HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Jane (Gleed) Cappellino, 87, died Monday at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. She resided on Griffin Avenue in Hoosick Falls with her husband Charles, whom she married in 1945.

She was born April 5, 1917 in Mohawk, daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Edick) Gleed. Jane graduated from Mohawk High School and Potsdam State College with her teaching degree. She taught school for 32 years, 25 were at Hoosick Falls High School. She was always interested in dramatics and taught it. She also directed many plays and programs throughout her career. Jane taught and led the first Girl Scout troop in Hoosick Falls. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors other than her husband Charles include a daughter, Linda Witham of Medfield, Mass., and a nephew, Dr. James D. Burrill of Lincoln, R.I.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 27 at 11 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church through the funeral home.
