Jane E. Marino 1922 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Jane E. Marino, age 87, a resident of John Street, Bennington, died at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 following a short illness. Born in Adams, Mass., on Feb. 28, 1922, daughter of the late Fred and Violet Sorell Barschdorf. She received her education in the Bennington schools. She married Frank J. Marino at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington in 1945. Mr. Marino died in 1986. Mrs. Marino was employed in earlier years at Union Carbide Corporation in Bennington and also worked at the pharmacy at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was a very active member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, the parish Food Shelf, a member of the former Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister and a life member of St. Anne's Society. Jane was a volunteer Gray Lady at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, and a member of R.S.V.P. She was a loving caregiver and also loved all types of animals. Ms. Marino leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Harold Barney of Pownal, and Kathleen and Eric Carlton, of Hillsboro, N.H.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred E. and Cindy Marino of Cavendish and Keith E. and Michelle Marino of Duxbury; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel J. Pratt of Bennington; three brothers; Arthur Barschdorf of Duluth, Minn., James Barschdorf of Superior, Wisc. and William Barschdorf of Pittsfield, Mass., as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Irene Joly and two brothers, Alfred Barschdorf, and John Barschdorf. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Prayer service will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Interment will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Memorial donations in Jane E. Marino's memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201. All members of St. Anne's Society are asked to meet at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Thursday evening at 6 p.m. for the recitation of the Rosary.
