Jane A. Potter

1928 - 2013 BENNINGTON Jane A. Potter, 85, a former resident of Gage Street, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, following a long illness. Born in Bennington on Aug. 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William H. Potter and Christina M. (Jensen) Potter. Jane received her education in the Bennington schools and was a graduate of Bennington High School. In earlier years, Jane was employed at various mills in the area. She retired in 1985 from Union Carbide Corporation after 12 years of employment there. Jane was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, Court St. Margaret Mary Catholic Daughters of America in Arlington and the Bennington Senior Citizens. Survivors include a niece, Christina Hernandez, and her husband, Richard, of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., and two nephews, Ralph Mavilla of Bennington and David Potter and his wife, Ellen, of Columbia, S.C. Jane is also survived by many great-nephews, a great-niece and their children. Jane was predeceased by a sister, Ruth E. Mavilla and by a brother, George C. Potter. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in January at a time to be announced. Burial will take place in the family lot in the Village Cemetery in Bennington. Should friends desire, donations in Jane A.
