Obituary Condolences

RUTLAND -- Jane Elizabeth Rice, nee Jane Lobeck, died peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Rutland. Born April 20, 1915, in Ellicottville, N.Y., she grew up in Richmond and attended Maryland College for Women in Baltimore.

She was predeceased by husbands Raymond L. Peladeau and Jerome B. Rice III. She lived for many years in Skaneateles, N.Y., before moving to the Arlington and Manchester area, where she was a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Rice is survived by daughters, Diane Peters and Janet Finney, son-in-law Charles R. Finney, grandchildren Jonathan Peters and his wife, Connie, Elizabeth Finney, Benjamin Peters and his wife, Laura McLeod, Chad Finney and Bethany Peters, as well as great-grandchildren Hunter and Riley Peters and Andrew, Jonathan and Xavier McLeod Peters.

Grandma Jane will be missed for her sparkling blue eyes, her affection for all her family, her wry sense of humor and her love for all things natural and chocolate.

A memorial service will be at the discretion of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad in memory of Jane Rice, P.O. Box 295, Arlington, VT 05250.

The Tossing Funeral Home in Rutland is in charge of the arrangements.
