POWNAL -- Funeral services for Janet A. Tornabene were held from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pownal, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola c.s.c. associate pastor. A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Shari Hand. Musical selections offered during the mass were “How Great Thou Art,” “On Eagles Wings,” “In the Garden” and “Ave Maria.”

The casket pall was placed on Mrs. Tornabene’s casket by her children, Jennifer Cook, Jessica Baldwin and Joseph J. Tornabene Jr. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Mrs. Tornabene’s husband Joseph J. Tornabene. The scriptural readings were offered by a son-in-law Ronald Baldwin and a nephew Joseph Hervieux. The Offertory Gifts were presented by two grandchildren Meghan and Erin Therrien. The eulogy was offered by Mrs. Tornabene’s grandchildren Austin Turner, Matthew and Samantha Baldwin and Isabella and Joseph Tornabene III.

Serving as pall bearers were Bradley Turner, Christopher Moore and four nephews Joseph Hervieux, Gary Lewis, Terry Trottier and Thomas Trottier.

The burial took place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal, with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. “Amazing Grace” and “Going Home” were offered on the Bagpipes at the cemetery by Doreen Feeney.

A reception for family and friends followed the service at the Mount Anthony Country Club.

Mrs. Janet A. Tornabene, 64, a resident of Brookman Road, Pownal, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in Bennington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
