Janet Grime Wallace

Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- Janet Grime Wallace, a 30-year resident of Dorset Hollow, Dorset, formerly of Wilton, Conn., died on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the age of 76.

She was born Aug. 10, 1928 in Waterbury, Conn., the daughter of Charles and Hazel Wilson Grime. She attended the University of Connecticut at Storrs, and married her childhood sweetheart, George M. Wallace, in 1951.

Her life was devoted to her family. She raised four children, and created a home that was the gathering place for all of their friends. She was a Sunday school teacher, a longtime volunteer at various charities in Wilton and Dorset and a constant presence at school meetings and events. She enjoyed painting, cooking, spending time at her oceanfront home in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and hosting her twice-yearly Wallace family gatherings. Her sense of humor and generosity will be sorely missed.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, George. She is survived by her daughters, Linda King of Myrtle Beach and Kit Wallace of Philadelphia, Pa., and her sons, Skip Wallace of Chester, Va. and Scott Wallace of Moorestown, N.J. She has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Dorset on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 3 p.m. All are invited to celebrate Janet’s life. A reception will follow immediately after the service. In memory of Janet, memorial gifts may be made to the United Church of Dorset, c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255.
