Janet R. Brownell 1934 - 2009 HOOSICK FALLS Janet Rudd Brownell, 75, a resident of Groveside Road for 57 years, died peacefully, Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a long illness. Born in Troy, Feb. 24, 1934, Mrs. Brownell was the daughter of Charles and Hazel White Rudd and the beloved wife for over 59 years of Kenneth E. Brownell Sr., of Groveside, who survives. Mr. & Mrs. Brownell were married Jan. 11, 1950. Mrs. Brownell attended Hoosick Falls High School. As a young married woman, she was a homemaker, raising her family, and then for more than 40 years she was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Brownell Landscaping. For 30 years she worked as a "gray lady" and a volunteer at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. For 31 years, Mrs. Brownell enjoyed "snowbirding" to Inverness, Fla., each winter and also loved to cook. In addition to her husband Ken, Mrs. Brownell leaves three sons, and daughters-in-law, and a daughter and son-in-law, Kenneth E. and Margaret Brownell Jr. of Groveside, Penny A. and Edward Kepner of Pittstown, Richard A. and Marie Brownell Sr. of Hoosick Falls, and Jeff C. and Judy Brownell of Eagle Bridge, nine grandchildren, Richard A. Brownell of New York City, Stacy Connors and Kyle Lilac, both of Saratoga, Danielle Brownell of East Greenbush, Kyle Kepner of Pittstown, Damon Eppinette of North Carolina, Sileta Eppinette, Ryan Meadows, and Kevin Meadows all of Eagle Bridge, three great-grandchildren, Quinn Lilac, Ava Connors, and Lukas Lilac. In addition to her parents, a grand-daughter, the late Kristin Kepner, predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE: A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the HOWARD B. TATE & SON FUNERAL HOME INC., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown with the Rev. Gaylord Campbell, officiating. Burial will take place at Warren Cemetery in Boyntonville. There will be no public calling. At the request of the family, no flowers please, but rather, a contribution, if desired, may be made to the Volunteer Services Fund c/o Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, 100 Hospital Drive, Bennington, Vermont, 05201 in memory of Janet Rudd Brownell.
