1938-2013 BENNINGTON Janet Mary Rivers 75, died Monday December 9 at her residence on Gage Street, where she resided with her husband Norman C. Rivers. Janet was born on July 3, 1938, in Hoosick Falls, NY, daughter of the late Sherman and Bernice (Parker) Hoffman. She attended Walter A. Wood High School, graduated from Troy High School and received her Associates Degree from Albany Business College. Janet was formerly employed in the offices of the Fairdale Farms in Bennington. She was instrumental in the starting of Miss Softball in Hoosick Falls where she held many positions throughout the years. She was also a past president of both the V.F.W. And Eagles in Hoosick Falls. Survivors other than her husband Norman include daughters Peggy Reilly of Hoosick Falls and Holly Sculthorpe of St. Mary's, GA, stepdaughters Susan Page and Beth Antognioni both of Bennington, Jennifer Mason of Berwyn, Penn., Laura Cestone of Pittsfield, MA, stepsons N. Joseph Rivers of Brattleboro, VT, James Rivers of Davis, CA, Ted Rivers of Bennington, sisters Mary Ellen Martin, of Hoosick Falls, NY, Cecile Green of Westfield, MA, Rita McCarthy of Lake George, NY, brothers Sherman Hoffman, Thomas and Steve Lemon all of Hoosick Falls, also twenty-one grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister Doris Hoffman. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Thursday December 12, at 3:00 pm from St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the start of the service. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Health & Rehab Center through the funeral home.
