Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Janet Wade Mattison, 81, a resident of lower East Road in Bennington died on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at her residence.

She was born in Bennington on Oct. 20, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Hattie (Cranston) Wade. She received her education in local schools. She had been employed at the Bennington Banner for over 25 years.

Janet was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bennington, American Legion Post #13, Auxiliary, and a member of the former Bennington Rural Fire Department Auxiliary. Her main interest was her family and attending tag sales.

Janet is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Charles Becker of Shaftsbury; one nephew and his wife, Brian and Judy Wade of Shaftsbury; one niece and her husband, Tammy and Jeff Mattison of Shaftsbury; and two nieces in Colorado Springs, Colo, JoAnn Wade and Robin Wade. She also leaves four great-nephews and one great-niece-in-law, Brian and Susan Wade II, Joshua Longton, Cortland Wade-Bailey and Cody Wade-Bailey. She also has one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Wade of Shaftsbury. Janet is predeceased by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mr. Charles Wade and Mr. Alfred Wade, Jr. and his wife Birdie.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced in a later edition of the paper.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. to pay their respects.
