Janice M. Kinnie

1920 - 2012 DORSET, VT Janice M. Kinnie, 92, a lifelong resident of Dorset, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Janice was born at home in Dorset on April 9, 1920, daughter of Smith M. and Hazel (Sherman) Matson. She attended Northfield (Mass.) Seminary for Girls and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary. She continued her education at American International College in Springfield, Mass.

In 1940, Janice married Guy S. Stone of East Dorset, where they lived for 30 years. She served the Town of Dorset for 10 years as Town Clerk and then worked at the East Dorset Post Office for 26 years, retiring in 1986. Following her husband's death in 1970, she returned to Dorset to live with her mother who died in 1971. In 1972, Janice married R. Joseph Kinnie in Pawlet. Ffor many years they resided in Dorset.

Janice was a longtime member of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert where she taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed playing golf and reading.

She leaves her sister-in-law Hilda Hazelton of Dorset, brother-in-law Gordon Kinnie of Monks Corners, S.C., two cousins, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held on Oct. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset, VT.
