1982 - 2014 POWNAL, VT. Jason Alan Murphy 32 of North Smithfield, R.I. formerly of Pownal, Vt. died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at his home. He was born in Stoughton, Mass. on Jan. 29, 1982 a son of Lawrence and Diane (Hartman) Murphy. He attended school in Pownal, where he was active in all youth sports including little league. Jason graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School with the class of 2000 where he was a four year varsity letterman for the football and baseball teams. In 1997 while playing football he broke the Vermont State recorder for the longest field goal 45 yards and in 1998 he broke his own recorder by kicking a 49 yard field goal, a Vermont State recorder that still stands. Jason graduated from Franklin Pierce College in 2004 with a degree in education. While at Franklin Pierce he was a member of the baseball team. Jason was a successful businessman and the owner and operator of the Murphy's Paint Co. serving Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts and enjoyed playing men's softball. Most importantly he loved his children. Survivors include his parents Lawrence and Diane Murphy of Williamstown. A son, Dustin Murphy and a daughter, Mary Iadarola both of Pascoag, RI. Four sisters, Brenda (John) Little, Robin (David) Nelson, Michelle Murphy and Karen (Paul) Belanger and one brother, Michael (Ellen) Murphy nieces, Christine, Meghan, Brenda, Beth, Melissa, Bonnie, Allie and Alicia and nephews, Mike and Alejandro. Grand-niece Kaylee and grand-nephews Wesley and Antonio. Two uncles, Ray Hartman and Doug Murphy and many cousins. His best friend and business partner, Lisa Beausoleil. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert S. Hurley Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling Hours are Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
