BRATTLEBORO Jay Andrew Knickerbocker, 60, a resident of The Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont, died on September 24th, 2012. Jay died peacefully with his family at his side following a lengthy illness. Jay was a true warrior throughout his long journey.

He was the beloved son of Gerald Clark Knickerbocker and Ann (Mela) Knickerbocker. Jay attended schools in Chesterfield and Keene, N.H., and graduated from Keene High School with the class of 1970 and from Franklin Pierce College with a B.A. in Business with the class of 1984.

Jay served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman from July 10, 1972 thru July 7, 1974. Thru his tour of duty, Jay was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. Following his honorable discharge, Jay made his home in Reno, Nevada where he was employed by Harrah's Resort and Casino which allowed him to pursue his love of downhill skiing by day and bartending at night.

Jay ("Knick") was a passionate fan of Rock and Roll music. You could always count on him to name any song and the name of the band that performed that song. In addition to music, was Jay's love of water and downhill skiing, family and friends.

Jay leaves his father, Gerald C. Knickerbocker of Brattleboro; brothers, Jon D. Knickerbocker and Scott G Knickerbocker of Brattleboro; a sister, Ruth Ann (Knickerbocker) Chalifour of West Chesterfield, N.H.; nephews, Jordan Knickerbocker, Zachary Chalifour (and wife Mandy), Spencer Knickerbocker; his beloved cousins; Kathy, Kirsty, Wendy, Chris and Joanne.

Jay was pre-deceased by his mother, Ann (Mela) Knickerbocker.

Burial services will be private. There are no calling hours. Contributions in Jay Knickerbocker's name can be made to Brattleboro Area Hospice. Rest in peace, our beloved warrior.
