Jayne Whitney-Daigneault

1923 - 2015 LAS CRUCES N.M. Jayne Dorion Whitney-Daigneault, our mom, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children and extended family on Feb. 5, 2015. Born in Bennington,Vt. on May 24, 1923 to Herbert Dorion and Cecilia Leubner Dorion. She attended Bennington Public Schools in Bennington, Vt. until her graduation from Mount Anthony High School. She then attended St. Luke's Nursing School in Pittsfield, Mass. where she received her RN. During WWII she enlisted in the Navy as an Ensign Registered Navy Nurse. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Henry Whitney. They had seven children, all living; Dorion "Pinkie" Stevens, Geoffrey Whitney, Candace Whitney, Kim Snyder (Ron), Jan Whitney-Fonger (Don), Tanya Bonestroo (Bruce), and Jill Alison Whitney Torres (Ben). They were married for 43 years. Later in life she married Martin Daigneault with whom she shared 13 years of marriage. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Tracy Stevens, Cris McWhorter (Patrick), Shane Stevens (Sherry), Shannon Stevens (Kristen), Sterling Snyder, Jayne Hartman (Chisolm), Julia Banegas (Jordan), Jan Bonestroo, Joe Bonestroo, Stephanie Bonner (Danny), Steffen Torres, and Whitney Torres; great-grandchildren, Javery Stevens, Nick Castaneda, Natalie Castaneda, Natasha Castaneda, Chelsey Castaneda, Cheyenne Stevens, Courtney Stevens, Kolten Taylor, Kelsey Taylor, Knox Bonner, and Colt Hartman; great-great-grandchild Davian Garcia; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation and burial took place in Las Cruces, N.M. where she lived since 1959. Donations can be made in her name at: Mesilla Valley Hospice 299 E. Montana Las Cruces, NM 88005.
