Jean A. Potter, 78, a resident of South Stream Road in Pownal, VT died Saturday March 11, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family following a long illness

She was born in Bennington, VT December 18, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Harold and Grace (Elwell) Harrington. Jean received her education in Bennington and was a 1956 graduate of Bennington High School.

She married Lyman W. Potter Jr. on September 1, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church of Bennington.

In earlier years Jean worked at several nursing homes including Sourdiffe's and Twin Maples. She enjoyed painting and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Lyman W. Potter Jr., of Pownal. Her children James Potter and Kelley of Pownal, Robin Hoag and David of Shaftsbury, Theodore Potter and Lynn of Brooksville, Florida, Victoria Potter and Randy of Arlington, Sue Pochop and Peter of Richmond, VT, Anthony Potter and Tammy of Shaftsbury, Brenda Phillips and Sam of Bolton, VT, Justin Potter and Mary of Clarksville, TN and Loretta Snyder and Christopher of Bennington; Thirty one grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. A sister Sylvia Wideawake of North Hoosick, New York. A brother Ronald Harrington of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son Edward Potter, two brothers David and Gary Harrington and a sister Sandra Harrington.

SERVICES: The family will be having a private ceremony at the Pownal American Legion on Route 7 in Pownal on Sunday March 19, at 11:00 a.m.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held at the Pownal American Legion on Sunday March 19, 2017 from noon until 3:00 p.m..

The burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery.
