BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Jean M. Eagan, 88, widow of John J. Eagan, a former resident of Bennington, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at the Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Health Center following a long illness.

Born in Mechanicville, N.Y., Feb. 26, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Ethel (Dormandy) Tordoff. She received her education in Mechanicville and was a graduate of Mechanicville High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Eagan were married in Mechanicville on July 25, 1934. Mr. Eagan died Oct. 11, 1985. In earlier years, Mrs. Eagan was employed in the credit department of the U.S. National Bank in Portland, Ore., until the time of her retirement.

She was a former volunteer at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Mrs. Eagan was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. She loved hand- hooking rugs and gardening.

Survivors include four daughters, Pamela Keniry of Greenwich, N.Y., Gail Garrard of Waitsfield, Judith Armlin of Delmar, N.Y., and Jacquelyn Hawkins of Jeffersonville; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Stewart and Donna Maddren both of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Caryl Doe of Westernport, Md.; a brother, Harrison Tordoff of Mineapolis-St. Paul, Minn.; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Eagan was pre deceased by a sister, Joan Delucia.

Graveside services for Mrs. Jean M. Eagan will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date and will be announced.
