ARLINGTON -- Mrs. Jean Shaw Kendall, 77, a resident of School Street, died on Saturday morning, Aug. 16, 2003 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Mrs. Kendall was born on April 26, 1926 in Los Angeles, the daughter of William and Lenore (Leonard) Shaw. She was a graduate of the Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y. and attended Smith College in Northampton, Mass.

On Feb. 8, 1947, she was married to Don Kendall Jr. in New York City. Mr. Kendall, the former president of Mack Molding Co., died in 1974.

The year following their marriage, the Kendalls moved from Williamstown, Mass. to Arlington and Mrs. Kendall had resided there since that time. Active in numerous community functions, Mrs. Kendall was a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington, served on the Arlington School Board, as president of the Arlington Garden Club, was active in the Arlington Nursing Association and was in charge of the Junior Instructional Ski Program for Arlington at Bromley Mountain. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed her flower gardens and especially enjoyed her family.

Mrs. Kendall is survived by her children, Don Kendall and Peter Kendall both of Arlington; Mrs. Anne Lincoln of Willsboro, N.Y. and John Kendall of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother Bill Shaw of Houston; eight grandchildren, Scott Kendall, Will Kendall, Andy Simpson, Jason Kendall, Jennifer Kendall, John Kendall, Paul Kendall and William Kendall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Federated Church of East Arlington with the Rev. Tom Truscott, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Kendall has chosen to gift her body to medical science for research. There are no calling hours planned.
