Jeanette Casey 1911 - 2009 BENNINGTON Jeanette Casey, 97, a lifelong resident of Dewey Street died Sunday morning, May 17, 2009, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. Born in Bennington on Oct. 1, 1911, daughter of Philip and Emma D'Amour Plourde, Jeanette received her education at Sacred Heart School. In earlier years, Jeanette had been employed as an inspector at several mills throughout the area, including the Holden Leonard Mill, Bennington Weaver's and Hoy Manufacturing. Due to the ill health of her mother and aunt, she stopped working to care for them. She was an honorary life member of Saint Anne's Society and a devout member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Jeanette enjoyed traveling, knitting and was a beautiful seamstress. Her home and family were her main interest. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was well known to visit those in time of need. She will be remembered by many of the nurses and staff at CLR as being feisty. She leaves a daughter, Louise Farr and Lawrence of Bennington; a son, James Casey and Mary Jane Hilchey of Bennington; six granddaughters, Kelly Langlais and Alan, Colleen Sausville and Paul Jr., Pamela Farr and Philip Sausville, Patricia Casey and Jason Tudor, Megan Casey, and Jenna Langlois and Steve; 11 great-grandchildren, Michael Langlois, Casey Conklin, Kayliegh Sigsbury, Christina Gronoinski, Wendy Sausville, Olivia Casey-Moore, Jacob Sausville, Noelle Langlais, Mark Langlais, Ethan Langlois and Emily Langlois; three great-great-grandchildren, Cherylynn Burgess, Jackson Freeman and Alexus Gronoinski. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Cheryl Farr Conklin; by a brother, Leo Plourde, and by a sister, Louise Plourde. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, with a prayer at 10:30 a.m. and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11, where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. when the family will be in attendance. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Jeanette Casey may be made to either the Bennington Meals on Wheels Program or Centers for Living and Rehabilitation for the purchase of a van for the residence through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at CLR for the care that they offered Jeanette over the last five years.
