Jeanette Christman 1939-2008 SHUSHAN, N.Y. Jeanette L. Christman, 68, of Shushan, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 17, 2008, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Bennington, Vt. She was born August 6, 1939 in White Plains, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Barbarossa Rossi. She graduated from White Plains High School in 1958. Mrs. Christman had owned and operated the Villa Fiorita in Brewster, N.Y., and a game room in Shushan, N.Y. as well as the Mickey Boys Goodie Wagon where she went to many events and benefits to help people in their time of need. She was a very active volunteer and was especially active in the Shushan Grange where she currently served as chaplain. Mrs. Christman was also a member of the Washington County Pomona Grange and was a Shushan Junior Grange Leader. She was a member and former president of the Salem Area Senior Citizens and at one time was named "Senior Citizen of the year". She volunteered at the BOCES Rye Lake Campus and she and her husband sponsored many Fresh Air Kids over the years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Salem. She leaves her husband, Medrick J. Christman, whom she married on June 20, 1970; her children; Susan Sciortino O'Keefe and her husband, David of Salem, Joseph A. Sciortino and his wife, Shannon, of Danbury, Conn., Robert L. Christman and his wife, Gena, of Shallotte, N.C. and John W. Christman of Cabot, Vt. She also leaves her grandchildren; Lucianna O'Keefe, Jessica O'Keefe, Joseph Nicholas Sciortino, Bethany Sciortino, Tonya Bushee, Kenneth Christman and John Christman and a great grand-daughter, Olivia Rose Bushee; two sister in laws, Barbara Rowland and Claudia Christman; a brother in law, Roy Christman and two nieces, Sherry McKinley and Sandy Christman. She was predeceased by an infant son, Todd Michael Christman; two brothers, John "Jack" Rossi and Tulio Rossi. Funeral Notice: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, North Main Street, Salem with Rev. Liam Condon officiating. Interment will follow the mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cambridge. Following the services, the family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon and to continue to share memories of Jeanette at the Shushan Grange, County Route 64. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MCCLELLAN FUNERAL HOME, 19 East Broadway, Salem, N.Y.
