Jeanne Chapman 1924 - 2008 BENNINGTON, VT. Jeanne Marie Chapman, 84, a former resident of Prospect Street, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born in Bennington, on Feb. 7, 1924, daughter of Carl E. and Alice Grant Blodgett, Jeanne was a 1941 graduate of Bennington High School. She later received an associate's degree from Southern Vermont College. In earlier years, Jeanne had been employed at Tansitor Electronics and the Union Carbide Corporation. In the 1970's, Jeanne received her real estate license and was a very successful realtor. She worked at Hoisington Realty, Perrott Realty and RT Martins Associates. During the 1950's, Jeanne was very active with the local Girl Scouts and served as a camp director for Girl Scouts at Woodford Lake. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was known for the Victorian doll houses she made and her Christmas egg miniatures. Her husband, Francis R. Chapman, whom she married March 11, 1944, died Dec. 21, 1972. She leaves two sons and their spouses, Jay Chapman and Debra Anderson of Bennington, and Patrick and Mary Chapman of Bennington; five grandchildren, John, Ethan, Francis "Mike", J.D. and Nicole Chapman; four great -grandchildren, Tyler, Akira, Kollin and Breana Chapman; three step-grandchildren,Michael Spangenberg, Ryan Davis and Ashley Walker; a sister, Julie Galipeau and her husband, Bernie, of Bennington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son, John F. Chapman, who died in 1980. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Thursday, April 3, at 10 a.m. from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at funeral home today, Wednesday, April 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Jeanne Marie Chapman may be made to the Activities Fund at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
