Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Jeanne Marie Cone were held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Saturday, March 12, 2005 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Edward Howard, s.j., pastor. Assisting at the funeral mass was the Rev. Michael Demasi, the Rev. Julian LaFlamme and the Rev. David O’Brien.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Katie Beck. Hymns offered were “On Eagles’ Wings” and “Be Not Afraid.” Mrs. Cone’s daughter-in-law, Catherine Nesbit also offered the hymns “Ave Maria” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

The funeral pall that draped the casket during the funeral service was placed by her three sons, Robert, Mark, and Greg Nesbit. A wooden cross was placed on the casket by a grandson, Andrei Nesbit. The readings were offered by Mark and Greg Nesbit and the eulogy was offered by Robert Nesbit. The offertory gifts were presented by a daughter-in-law, Laura Nesbit and by Robert Nesbit.

Bearers were David Keator, Trevor Nesbit, James Stauch, Shawn Farley, Peter Auster and Kevin McCormick. Honorary bearers from the St. Johns sodality were Betty Becket, Theresa DeMasi, Theresa Densmore, Mae Fox, Jill Levin, RoseMary Lindsey, Madeline Gratton, Lena Scott, Lorna Cole, Joyce Scarey, Eileen Flynn, Margaret Mailhot and Lillian McNickle.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Friday afternoon the Rev. Howard and the Rev. Demasi offered the wake service at the funeral home. On Friday evening, members of the family offered the recitation of the Rosary, sang a family hymn and offered personal memories of Jeanne.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Howard offering the committal prayers.

A reception for friends and family followed the services at the Old First Church Barn on Monument Circle.

Jeanne died March 10, 2005, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
