BUSKIRK, N.Y. -- Jeanne Prouty Flynn, 51, of Stage Road, died peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington,Vt. She was the beloved wife of Timothy R. Flynn.

Born Thursday, May 22, 1952, in Townshend, Vt., she was the daughter of Harold B. and Elizabeth Slade Prouty of Bennington. Jeanne graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School, class of 1970, and then earned her degree in elementary education from the University of Vermont, class of 1974.

On Aug. 20, 1977, she and Tim were married. They lived in Hoosick Falls for several years where she was a substitute teacher.

Jeanne thoroughly enjoyed raising her family of three boys. She was active in all their activities and devoted much of her time to cheering for her children and their teammates at many athletic facilities through out New York and Vermont. She was the unofficial scorekeeper for many of these events.

Jeanne returned to the classroom as a volunteer at Cambridge Elementary School when Andrew started school and went on to substitute in some of the classes. Jeanne was known to the students and her children’s friends as Mrs. Flynn, the lady with the very long braid.

She enjoyed the study of genealogy and had traced her Vermont forefathers back 19 generations.

No matter how busy Jeanne was, she always made time to be with her extended family and friends who found much comfort in her presence.

Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Timothy R. Flynn of Buskirk; three sons, Mathew, Andrew, and Nathaniel; her parents, Harold and Elizabeth Prouty of Bennington; two siblings, Bruce Prouty of Bennington and Janice Rowe of Florida; her mother-in-law, Marjorie Flynn of Buskirk and numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and their families.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, April 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main St. Father James Walsh will conduct the service.

Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Center Cambridge Road, Cambridge.

Youth sports are very important to the Flynn family. They request memorial donations be made to the new Cambridge Sandy Koufax Baseball Team, care of Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, NY 12816 or to a youth sports activity of your choice.
