Jeanne Z. Walsh
1928-2010 ARLINGTON Mrs. Jeanne A. Z. Walsh, 81, died Friday morning, May 14, 2010, at Sebring Hospital in Sebring, Fla.
She and her brother, George E. Zimmer, have wintered the past 19 years in Sebring. George passed away on April 26, in Sebring.
Born on Chestnut Terrace in Bloomfield, N.J., on May 22, 1928, the daughter of the late George W. and Sybilla Grossgung Zimmer, she and her family moved to Arlington in 1939, when her father was transferred by Mack Molding from their Wayne, N.J. plant.
She was a 1946 graduate of Arlington Memorial High School and continued her education at the former St. Joseph's Business College (now Southern Vermont College).
She was married to George M. Walsh on July 2, 1949, at St. Columban's Church (now Christ Our Savior Catholic Church). Her beloved George died on June 21, 1985.
She retired from the Chittenden Bank in 1991. Her main interest has always been her family. She loved life and she was always fun. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Germany and Switzerland. She developed a passion for playing golf in Sebring and Arlington, and also enjoyed playing bridge.
She was a communicant of Christ Our Savior Church (St. Margaret Mary's) and a member of the Women's Sodality. She was a member of the American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary, Arlington Golf Association, a summer volunteer at the Martha Canfield Library, and has participated in numerous Lions Club Music shows. She was a past member of the Arlington Choral, former treasurer of Arlington Boy Scout Troop 334 and an Arlington Town Auditor for many years.
She leaves her son, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Susie Walsh, of Red Mountain in Arlington; daughter, Mary Jeanne Walsh of Southern Pines, N.C.; sister, Helene Thompson of Arlington; six granddaughters, Nichole and Dallas Peschken of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Kerry and Todd Wilkins of Arlington, Errin and Hooper Pickering of Arlington, Kelli and Seth Walsh-Howard of Poultney, and Stephanie Labowski of Southern Pines, N.C.; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Church in Arlington. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Columban's Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the committal services in the parish hall. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23 from 3-5 p.m. at the Arlington Chapel of the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME for a time to remember Jeanne and celebrate her life's memories.
