Jeannette "Pat" Clayton

1928 - 2013 ARLINGTON Jeannette "Pat" Clayton, 84, a resident of Buck Hill Road, died peacefully in Vergennes on Saturday, May 11, 2013. For the past five years, she had resided with her daughter, Kathryn Brockelman, and her family in Shirley, Mass., and more recently, at Ringer's Home Care in Vergennes where she received excellent care and compassion in her short time there.

The daughter of Lynn and Mabel (Squires) Woodard, she was born at home in Arlington on Oct. 10, 1928. She grew up on the family farm in Sandgate, attending local schools, and graduating from Arlington High School.

Pat had worked at Mack Molding, Stanley Tools and Eveready Battery.

She was a member of The Federated Church of East Arlington, American Legion Post 69 Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary.

She leaves her husband, Kenneth E. Clayton Sr. of Vergennes; sons, Kenneth Clayton Jr., and wife, Donna, of Vergennes, Daniel Clayton of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Keith Clayton, who predeceased her; a daughter, Kathryn Brockelman, and husband, Bruce of Shirley, MA., and daughter-in-law, Lynn Clayton; grandchildren, John Stroffoleno, Jason Stroffoleno, Wanda Brockelman, Darielle Brockelman, Heather Clayton, Tammy Clayton, David Clayton, Myra Clayton, Seth Clayton, Laurel Clayton, Billie Jo Forgeus and Jessica Gaboriault; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Sydney and Jordon Jewell, Jonathan, Maci and Morgan Forgues, Dylan, Jacob and Connor Gaboriault, Jeremy, Sierra and Savannah Clayton, Madison Baldwin, and Matthew Stroffoleno, and John Michael Stoffoleno, who predeceased her, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie McIntyre, and by an infant brother.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held at The Federated Church of East Arlington on Wednesday, May 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kathleen Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Following the graveside services, a memorial reception will be held in Bailey Hall at the church. Friends may call at the Arlington Chapel of the HANSON-WALBRIDGE -SHEA FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.
