Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A large number of family and friends gathered at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Monday morning, June 25, 2007, for the funeral services of Mrs. Jeannette P. Hurley. Conducting the service was the Rev. Michael Morneault, chaplain of VNA and Hospice of Bennington, personal reflections and memories were shared by granddaughters, Christine and Valerie, who spoke of their grandmother’s many endearing qualities, including her dedication to family, kindness, big heartedness, generosity of her time and enduring strength, their tributes concluded with the song “Tough” by Craig Morgan. Other musical selections included “Here I Am Lord” and “Ave Maria.” The Rev. Morneault concluded the service with the poem “A Mothers Pathway.” Burial with committal prayers took place in the family lot in the Morgan-Towslee Cemetery in Pownal with the Rev. Morneault offering the committal prayers. Serving as bearers were grandsons John George, David George Jr., Michael George and Steve Champagne, also sons-in-law Ron Johnson and David Morgan. A time of fellowship and refreshment was held at the American Legion Post 90 in Pownal.

On Sunday afternoon, members of the Bennington Horseshoe Club attended the calling hours as well as members of American Legion Post 90 and the American Legion Auxiliary, which conducted their memorial services, officiating were Julie Webber and Betty LaPlant, Mrs. Hurley was a charter member of the organization.

Mrs. Hurley, 79, a resident of Benmont Avenue died peacefully at her home on June 21, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
