Obituary Condolences

ESSEX JUNCTION -- Jeslyn (Ethel) Kirkpatrick, 91, of Essex Junction passed away on Nov. 23, 2005, at her home.

She was born on April 21, 1914, in Albany, the daughter of Ornan and Ethel (Day) Sheperd.

Jeslyn graduated from Orleans High School, where she played basketball and won many typing awards.

She married Raymond Kirkpatrick on Aug. 14, 1936, in Shaftsbury. They were married for 68 years. He predeceased her on Oct. 24, 2004.

Jeslyn worked for Ben Mont Paper Co. for 23 years.

She and her husband were successful farmers in Brownington for 13 years. Jeslyn served as town clerk in Brownington for three years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and picking berries.

Jeslyn was a matriarch of five generations, enjoying spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Bruso and her husband, Paul, of Essex; three grandchildren, Dennis Bruso and his wife, Sandra, of Vergennes, Dennise Bruso and her partner, Harry Lawyer, of Greenwood, Del., and Dustin Bruso and his wife, Dorothy, of Essex; nine great-grandchildren, Chrystal Little and her husband, Jason, Nicole Bruso and her partner, Fred Lichtenfels, Bethany Bingham and her husband, Nathan, Alicia Bruso, Justus Keith and his wife, Anna, Jolien Haggard and her husband, David, Jarelle Bruso, Brandon Lawyer and Sean Bruso; great-great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Little, Jamine Little and Nathan Bingham; special friends, Edward Burdick and Kate Sullivan. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Floyd and Cecil Sheperd.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. in the Corbin and Palmer Funeral Chapel, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction, with burial to follow at the Vermont Veterans Home Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. in Bennington. Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, Home Care Program, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446; Vermont Veterans Home, C-Wing Activity Fund, 325 North St., Bennington, VT 05201, or the charity of one’s choice.
