Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A Mass of resurrection for Jessie F. Shea was celebrated Monday morning, Jan. 30, 2006, at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.

The Rev. James T. Preskanis, pastor, was the celebrant. Music was under the direction of organist Donald McMahon, who led the. congregation in the singing of the hymn’s “Here I Am Lord,” “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings.” Soloist Monica Murray sang the hymn “Ave Maria.”

The pall was placed on the casket by Kathy A. Shea, Lisa Shea, Julie Shea and Karen Shea. The Catholic Daughter’s pall was placed on the casket by Mary Morrissey. The first scripture reading, from the Book of Wisdom, was read by Erin Shea Sharpe and the second scripture reading, from Romans 5-11, was offered by Beth Shea Smardon. The Rev. Preskanis gave the gospel reading. The offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Bridget Shea, McKenna Shea, Erin Shea Sharpe and Beth Shea Smardon.

Mrs. Shea’s grandson, Robert, offered a personal eulogy. Serving as acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Ed Molloy, Barth Vander-Els and Gerald Amadon. Interment followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Rev. Preskanis offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Nathan, Zach, Robert, Daniel and Casey Shea and Mark and Ryan Lerner. Honorary bearers were the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Andrew No. 259, which included members Mary A. Morrissey, Catherine Murphy, May Frances Murphy, Anna Becker, Louise Gauthier, Kay Allen and Rita McCann. A memorial reception in the parish center followed the interment.

Sunday evening at the funeral home, the Rev. Preskanis offered a vigil service. The Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Andrew No. 259 and Bennington Fire Department Eagle Hose were in attendance to pay their respects to Jessie’s family.

Mrs. Jessie F. Shea, a resident of East Main Street, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation, following a lengthy illness.

Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
