Jill A. Plumb
1939-2009 PITTSFIELD Jill A. Plumb, 70, of 385 Benedict Rd. passed away Friday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Berkshire Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in West Rutland, Vt. on Sept. 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John and Leola Rondeau Bianchi. She attended local schools and graduated from West Rutland High School in 1957. Jill enrolled in the Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt. and received her nursing certificate in 1960. She worked at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital, a San Francisco Bay area hospital for several years and the Burlington, Vermont Medical Center for several years.
Jill met her husband, William in Burlington and they were married in 1971. Her husband received a degree from UVM and they moved to Pittsfield in 1974 when her husband obtained a position with GE Ordnance.
Jill spent 18 years raising a family then returned to work as a Rehab nurse in 1990 at BMC retiring in 1999.
She leaves her husband of 38 years, William, two sons, Scott, of Jackson, Wyo. and Graig, presently living in the Boston area.
A brother Peter Bianchi of West Rutland, Vt.
Jill acquired many friends in Pittsfield both in the nursing profession and through family activities.
She was always ready to give her guidance to friends on various matters and became known by some as Dr. Jill.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff at Berkshire Medical Center for all the loving care and support shown to Jill and her family.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Mrs. Jill A. Bianchi Plumb, Registered Nurse, died Friday Dec. 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vt. Calling hours will be at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
