Jo-Ann Cross Browe
1942-2013
"To know her was to love her!" Jo-Ann left this world for a better place with God, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jo-Ann was born August 31, 1942 to Joseph Martin Cross and Anna May Cornell Cross. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Bennington Catholic High School Class of 1960 and St. Joseph's Business College Class of 1962.
She was employed at the Bank of North Bennington, later the Catamount National Bank from 1962-1981. She worked at C.B. Sports from 1981-1983, was Manager for New England Wear from 1983-1986 and her final years she worked for Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in the Finance Department until her retirement in 2004.
Jo-Ann's family would like to especially thank Doctors Orion Howard and Charlene Ives along with the entire staff at the Cancer Center for their outstanding care and compassion that was given to Jo-Ann during her illness.
Jo-Ann married William Browe Sept. 9th, 1967 and they have been happily married for 45 years. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Billie-Jo and Joseph Mazzola and her son Joseph L. Browe. She leaves four grandchildren Mario and Marissa Mazzola & Hunter and Joanna Browe; three sisters, Mildred Pierce, Lillian Eldred and her husband Ken and Dale Crawford. She was predeceased by her sister Janet Wolfrum. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Laurence Browe and sisters-in-law Jean Coombs, Margaret Revett, Barbara Hoard and Bea Gallett and her husband Donald and several nieces, nephew2s and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. with a prayer and from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. when the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
Should friends desire memorial contributions in Jo-Ann Browe's memory may be made to either the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or VNA & Hospice of Southwestern Vermont Health Care through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
