BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Joan E. Peacock, 70, a resident of School Street, Bennington, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 following a long battle with cancer.

Born in Bennington, June 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Moon Sr. and Catherine E. (Davis) Moon Wellspeak. She received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School class of 1952. She later attended St. Joseph’s Business College.

In earlier years, Joan was employed as a housekeeper at various motels in the area.

Her main interest was her family. She enjoyed watching television, playing Bingo, outings and getting together for special family occasions.

Survivors include two sisters, Jean Jones of Bennington and Sherry Robinson of East Arlington; four brothers, James N. Moon, Gerald “Jerry” Moon and David Wellspeak, all of Bennington, and Jesse E. Moon of Pomona, Calif.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

At Joan’s request there will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
