HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Joan Pokines Green, 72, of Fifth Street, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. Born in Hoosick Falls on March 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah Stockwell Pokines.

Joan was a 1952 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central High School. She later graduated from Austin Beauty School in Albany and operated Joan’s Beauty Shop from her home in Hoosick Falls. She also was employed as a teller at the Catamount National Bank in North Bennington, Vt.

Joan was a former member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, the Hoosick Falls Fire Department Support Company, the Hoosick Falls Elks and the Eagles Club. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, Vt. Joan enjoyed sewing, knitting and camping.

She was the beloved wife of the late H. Charles Green who died in 1999; loving mother of Deborah (Fred) Pirie of East Hoosick and Bonnie (Ted) Senecal of Hoosick Falls; proud grandmother of Teddy (Susan) Senecal, Kassie and Kyle Senecal, Kaitlyn and Greggory Pirie and the late Jeffrey Stratton, Great grandmother of Tyler and Bradley Senecal and Emma Drozdzal.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main St., Hoosick Falls and at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, North Bennington, Vt., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Doherty, csc. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jeffrey Stratton Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main St., Hoosick Falls, NY 12090 established at Key Bank in memory of Joan’s grandson.
