NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Joan Patricia (Gallese) Anton, 73, of 183 Eagle St., North Adams, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at the North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was born in North Adams on April 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Arthur Gallese and Agnes (Cowhey) Gallese. She attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School.

She was first employed at the Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She then was employed for many years at the 1896 House Restaurant in Williamstown as a waitress. She also was employed for more than 10 years at the former Jaeger House Restaurant in Pownal, Vt. She was last employed in the security department at Williams College as a dispatcher for 10 years.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.

Her husband, Arthur Henry Anton, whom she married Nov. 29, 1952, died May 18, 1987.

Survivors include three daughters: Patricia Groves of Pownal and Colleen Alicea and Lori Anton-Emerson, both of North Adams; three grandchildren, Amie Groves, Kelly Groves and Kevin Alicea; two brothers, Donald Gallese of Los Angeles and John Gallese of Holyoke; one sister, Kathy Vega of Holyoke.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and relatives living in the Enfield, Conn., area.

She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Gallese Jr., and two grandchildren, Riane Alicea and Amber Groves, who both died in infancy.

Funeral services for Joan Patricia (Gallese) Anton will take place Saturday at noon at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams . There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the V.N.A. & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, North Adams Regional Hospital, Village Ambulance or the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home.
