PITTSTOWN, N.Y. -- JoAnn (Littlefield) Hanshaw, 48, a lifelong resident of Pittstown, died peacefully Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at The Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany following a short illness.

Born in Troy, Jan. 12, 1959, JoAnn was the daughter of Effie A. (Lewis) Littlefield of Pittstown and the late Kenneth C. Littlefield and the beloved wife of Michael L. Hanshaw of Pittstown, who also survives.

JoAnn was a graduate of Tamarac High School and attended Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt.

For over 24 years Mrs. Hanshaw was employed as a food service and deli clerk by the Price Chopper grocery store in Bennington, Vt. She retired in February 2007.

JoAnn was a member of the Pittstown United Methodist Church, the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps and the Board of Directors of Warren Cemetery Association in Boyntonville.

In her quiet time, JoAnn enjoyed the hobbies of reading romance novels and watching the Home and Garden Network on television.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her four children, Jaimie E. Hanshaw of Troy, Jessica L. (William) Celley of Bennington, Vt., and Michelle A. and Ashley N. Hanshaw, both of Pittstown; three brothers, Kenneth F. (Cathy) Littlefield and Terry L. (Cheryl) Littlefield of Pittstown, John Littlefield of Eagle Mills; and a brother-in-law, Donald Bornt of Raymertown; a grandson of Bennington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, a sister, the late Joyce Bornt, predeceased her.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 2 p.m., at the Pittstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Elwell officiating. Burial will take place in Warren Cemetery in Boyntonville.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown on Friday, April 20 from 3 to 7 p.m.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, contributions in JoAnn’s memory may be made to The Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, 315 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
