BENNINGTON -- Joanne Eva Conley, 58, a resident of School Street in Bennington, died on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2004 at the North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Conley was born on Jan. 7, 1946 in Bennington, the daughter of Nicola and Florence (Antonio) Carbonaro. She was a life-long resident of Bennington, attending grammar school at the Chapel School on Chapel Road and graduating from Bennington Catholic High School. In her earlier years, Joanne had been employed at Bennington Pottery and the Green Mt. Race Track. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who especially enjoyed her family, pets, flee markets and tag sales and an occasional trip to Foxwoods.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 30 years, Donald N. Conley Sr. of Bennington; two daughters, Jennifer Krijnen and her husband Hans of Bennington, and Pamela Conley of North Bennington; four sons, Gregory L. Conley of Pasadena, Md., Robert D. Conley of Bennington, Kevin M. Conley of Shaftsbury and Donald N. Conley Jr. of Bennington; three sisters, Elizabeth Marie Carbonaro of Englewood, Calif., Virginia Couch of North Bennington and Jean F. Kennard of Auburn, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and her special cat, Bear. Mrs. Conley was predeceased by a sister, Frances Carbonaro, and a brother, Nicholas Carbonaro. Her beloved pets Mack and Brandy have also gone before her.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church, officiating. Friends are invited to call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. All are invited to join in a time of remembrance and reflection held at the funeral home at the close of the calling hours on Sunday evening.
