JoAnne K. Edwards 1930 - 2009 BENNINGTON JoAnne Kennedy Edwards, 78, a resident of the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, a former longtime resident of Arlington, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, following a long illness. She was born in Johnstown, N.Y., on July 27, 1930, and received her education there. She had resided in Arlington for almost forty years. She came to Vermont after being transferred with the former Save-Way Supermarkets from Johnstown to Bennington as a Produce Manager. Before retiring, JoAnne had been a cook for the Meals-on-Wheels Program in Manchester for several years. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed baking and cooking for them. She was unconditionally loving and giving to her family and others, and was often referred to as Josie and, more recently, JoJo by her loving caregiver, Shelley. JoAnne was a former member of the American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary of Arlington, and she enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. She leaves her daughters, Louise Edwards of Johnstown, N.Y., Kathie and Patrick Thompson, daughter and son-in-law of Arlington, and Anne Thompson of Arlington; her grandchildren, Michael Thompson of San Francisco, Christopher Thompson of Burlington, Staff Sergeant Daniel Thompson, USAF, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Patrick Thompson II of Arlington, Robert Thompson of Burlington, Lyndsey Thompson of Arlington, Jason, Ryan and Allen Edwards, Waianae, Hawaii, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Bonnie Seder, who was like a daughter to her, and Alan Watts who was like a son. JoAnne was predeceased by one son, Lewis Allen Edwards. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St., Bennington, on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Services and interment will take place privately by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
